Jim and Karen Saxton

Jim and Karen Saxton are the head instructors at Coquille Martial Arts. They have been studying in the arts since 1995, shortly after enrolling their son, Dane at Wolfe's karate, in American Freestyle. The family has been competing since 1996 and have been teaching since 2000. Jim and Karen are working toward their 5th degree black belts in Jidokwan TaeKwonDo and 4th degree with the Kukkiwon.


Dane Saxton

Dane Saxton currently lives in north Bend, Oregon. Dane is a second degree black belt from CMA and is working toward his third degree black belt and kukkiwon certification.


Nikki Keller

Nikki Keller currently lives in Ashland where she attends the University of Southern Oregon and is going for a degree in literature. She is a first degree black belt with CMA. She studies with Coquille Martial Arts during her breaks from college and meets up with the team when they compete in Medford.


Franklin Smith

Franklin Smith Graduated from Coquille High School with the class of 2011. Having earned a Junior Black belt or Poom, he has been working toward both 1st and 2nd dan since 2009, and successfully tested in August 2011 for both his second dan with Coquille Martial Arts and his Kukkiwon 1st dan. He started taking martial arts with the Wolfe's and transferred to Coquille Martial Arts after they moved to Medford. Franklin also earned his Eagle Scout in May 2011.

Tasha Napier Graduated from North High School, Eugene, with the class of 2011 and earned a full scholarship to Lane Community College for one year. She has been working toward her 1st dan since moving to Eugene in her Freshman year, and after trying several martial arts schools in the Eugene area, decided to work on her own, competing with Coquille Martial Arts at tournaments. She earned her first dan with both Coquille Martial Arts and the Kukkiwon in August 2011. Picture coming soon.


Christian Koch

Christian Koch attends Bandon High School. He earned his poom belt in 2010 and studies at the school's facility in Bandon. He started taking classes with the Saxton in Coquille, before they opened the Bandon school.


Max Underdown

Max Underdown earned his Junior black belt in 2009 and studies at the Bandon school. He is also active in theatre.

JJ England is a student at Bandon High School and plans to test for his junior black belt in 2011.

Kaitlyn Davidson is a student at Coquille High School and a member of the Coquille Chess Team. She will be testing for her poom rank sometime in 2012.

Jason Tree lives in Bandon. He holds the rank of recommended black and will become eligible to test for black belt the summer of 2012.

We wish to honor those who have earned a black belt in good standing with us, but who are not currently members of our school. Their hard work in achieving this rank is to be commended.

Those not listed are not considered to be Black Belts of our school for some reason pertaining to their conduct in the arts or misuing the arts. If you feel you have been omitted in error, please contact us, so that we may remedy this situation.
