Kamas

Kamas are the first weapon students are introduced to in the standard curriculum at Green Belt. Students are expected to own their own weapons, with a choice of several different styles.

Children's Kamas

Foam Kamas
For the student on a budget who does NOT plan on competing in weapons divisions at tournaments. Silver holographic handles. Item number 1274P. Sizes 8" or 10 " -- $14.99

Adult Kamas

Steel Kamas
This kama is very affordable for the adult student and is styled after an authentic kama. 18" handles. These are not legal in the state of California. Thus, if you plan to compete in that state, plan to purchase a pair of competition or demo kamas. Item number 1272p, 16.99

Demo Kamas
Lightweight polished aluminum blades and natual wood 14" handles. These kamas are okay for use in California. Item number 12750-120-014P. 33.99

Bo Staff

The bo is the second weapon introduced at Coquille Karate - and any student who has successfully tested out of Kama Kata 1-4 is eligible for bo form instruction. This weapon requires a certain amount of coordination and is also a real life weapon, requiring the discipline and responsibility for proper use. Adults learn to use the bo as a defense weapon, learning the basic strikes, blocks and disarms long before they learn a bo form. Ownership of a bo is recommended for all adult students.

Straight hardwood bo
A good choice for adults wanting a simple basic bo for practice. This is a heavy weapon - and competitors will want a lighter flashier weapon for competition, in addition to the hardwood straight bo. Look for either a tapered bo, or a white waxwood bo. 1-1/4" diameter, in 50", 5 and 6 foot lengths. Choose the bo that most closely matches your height. Tapered Bos
A lighter weight option for either competition or for practice. There is also a tapered youth bo. This bo will accomodate a smaller hand size and lesser strength. Great for women, children and teens.

White Wax Bo
perfect for competition - amde the same size as the hardwood bos, but white wax wood is wonderfully lightweight. perfect for competition.
